Calabuig is a painter who has found his way into the paths of art. Long years of study and dedication, an attitude of severe self-criticism, a permanent self-improvement of his work, have led this artist to Impressionism and landscape themes.
An impressionist landscape by Calabuig is always a valuable accomplishment, a work of art joyfully conceived, gestated with enthusiasm, and born with effort and pain
Landscapes of infinite shades, ocher, red, sienna, cultivated or fallow lands and stubble cornfields, yellow and gray settled on arid lands, inland fields, dry land. And sometimes, like a miracle, water. A stony river, whose limpid waters that reflect the sky and the landscape. And all around, the green, patches of green exuberance of changing hues.
When the artist, satisfied, shows us his creation, we are faced with a canvas of flawless chromaticism, loose, easy and courageous drawing , often daring, a studied mixture of brush and spatula to achieve a high fused effectism. The whole set is as completed work, the work of a painter who has achieved creative maturity.
The trail Calabuig follows is already a beautiful and wide road that leads to his final goal.
"Since his first exhibition, many years have passed, during which the artist has refined his technique constantly, manifested as solid and mature in the interpretation of a series of beautiful impressionist landscapes, clean and colorful supported by a picture of sober and precise traits . Calabuig shows a great competence, achieving subtle effects on the land, olive groves and rural hamlets. "
