He was born in El Viso de los Pedroches, (Córdoba), in 1974. When he was twelve, his family moved to Seville, where he studied to become a painter and where he reached a high public profile through multiple successes and gathered prizes and recognition for his art-works and mastery.
José González is one of the great painting masters in Seville. His extraordinary pictorial language has gradually been refined to achieve that personal strength and expressive and colorful purity, full of an exquisite communicative sensitivity.Now he is publicly recognized not only in Seville and Andalusia, but also nationally.
He is a great master of oil painting, pastel, tempera and ceramics, and stands out because of his excellence in the art of watercolor, where he reaches the pinnacle of perfection that only a select few can achieve. José González, master of masters, has managed to assemble and transmit, from the depths of his soul and his costumbrist perception, a world of pictorial sensations of pure classicism, but with such personal issues that he makes his works unique.
There are painters who see the world from their heart, which is the city in which they live, and to live, always, is to love, remember, wait, want, fear. Seeing the world through their own city, where their sensitivity arises is to have many things to express the world,is to have something to be proposed as a paradigm, a microcosm from which the overall vision of a plastic project, a style is reached. So did Vermeer from Delft, Utrillo from Paris, Solana from Madrid, Romero de Torres from Cordoba, Seville Alfonso Grosso from the convents of Sevilla. And now, José González, whose world view is his perception of Sevilla, with all that Sevilla has of memory to our eyes and in its everyday story. This is something not easy to achieve, precisely because of the familiarity of the images, which cannot be infringed, but only updated to recreate them, taking care of not stealing from them what we love, what they inherited and will transmit. The unique city offers its full magic to the work of this painter of a bright palette and poetic manners. The city and the people who it blankets, are chosen by the painter among the least represented by folklore, but who are at the essence of the Andalusian spirit. The work of José González is a bright open window to a world of unfading evocations of the world's eyes.
"It would not be an exaggeration to say that José González is currently one of the leading figures of the current Seville costumbrism. The large collection of works that he is creating is a magnificent testimony to the character and customs of today's Seville.
We do not know what to admire the most of his paintings, if the security of the drawing, the grace with which the scenes are designed, the perfect compositions.
